The tragic events that took place at Fort Hood Texas on November 5, 2009, were a small segment of a long-line of ignored wake up calls for America. But contrary to the wrongly held belief in a Muslim Jihad aimed at the Free World, it was more or less a referendum on the innate dangers of nationally assumed Sociological Syndromes.

An Army spokesman confirmed that one eyewitness reported Hasan shouting "Allahu Akbar" - Arabic for "God is great" - as he shot his victims. But while he is said to have been a devout Muslim, no evidence has surfaced of his being a fundamentalist and terrorism has been ruled out.

What precisely motivated the 39-year-old from Virginia to turn his gun on his fellow soldiers remains a mystery. But a picture has begun to emerge of a deeply troubled man. According to his family, Hasan's worst nightmare was to be deployed to a war zone. He had never served on the frontline and had recently learned that he was to be sent to Afghanistan at the end of November. And in all of the back and forth chatter of cross-conflicting claims and blames, in the background was the words of a Marine Lieutenant. who made the following statement:

"We all noticed that about a few months ago he started to show up in traditional Arab dress when off duty. He'd never done that before. None of us wanted to say anything because we were afraid we'd be accused of prejudice against his ethnicity."

Therefore, we can safely assume that had he shown up dressed as The Lone Ranger or Batman - 13 people would be alive. But for fear of - not being Politically Correct - 13 people are dead.

Our general stupidity for the allowance of the blind adoption and unquestioned enforcement of Political Correctness as a national standard, is destroying the landscape of our ability to apply reason and logic to our everyday decisions.

Americans and Politics

The Christian Right will only sign on to the logic of cause and effect - if they can limit the categories politically. Well politics cannot be left out of the equation of 'cause and effect' in this case, for it is part and parcel of the primary problem we face as a nation - how we deal emotionally with daily politics.

We as a people tend to vote single issues rather than for the best compromise package we can obtain in a candidate. This destructive trend results from Americans not having participated enthusiastically in politics - on a daily basis - since the end of the Civil War. Unlike with the rest of the developed world (such as with the Europeans), discussions of local and national politics have been limited to the immediate time proximity of an upcoming election period.

In the interim what we have been involved in, as a people and a nation, the amassing of material gain and the adsorption of the benefits of a burgeoning capitalism economy that seemed to have no end. We have simply not had the practice and experience of these other societies in accommodating to the emotional rigors of daily politics - until now.

In essence, our accommodation to the sudden flood of daily politics has been chaotic and, in general, we have responded with personal prejudices, social fears and whatever controlling misinformation the politicians, political pundits and news media throw at us. We are at present a nation in - political disarray. We are now in a soft civil war controlled by the extremes of both the political Left and Right.

To quote by paraphrase the actor Jack Nicholson's famous comment from the film "A Few Good Men" - we can't handle the truth!

Evil-lution

There was a film debut in 1956 entitled "The Invasion of the Body Snatchers", whose theme bares a stark and not too comfortable resemblance to events taking place around us at present. Contrary to what the Liberal establishment believed then and continues to eschew to this day, the film had nothing to do with the American fear of Communism (the Red Menace) which was rampant at the time.

Rather the film's theme of humans going to sleep at night, while unknowingly being exposed to mysterious vegetable like organic pods that hive dropped from interstellar space. In the morning they awake to discover that non-human aliens having taken over the bodies and minds of their relatives, neighbors and friends. Think about that possibility for a moment and seriously reflect upon it; the conclusion is nightmarish. They all look like you and physically appear the same as they did the day before, but you sense and eventually come to know that they are not who they seem to be, but are in reality - something else.

What we are now facing is not Evolution of the Species, but more a matter of Evil-lution of Society. Yes, it has become necessary to coin a new term to accommodate the process: Evil itself is advancing to the forefront of what was once our advocated standard of morality. And the next question it has become necessary to address in this natural line of social evolution becomes - when did it start?

If one removes all political prejudiced saturation of the mind and simply dealt with the evident facts, one could easily surmise that although the trend most likely started in small drips and drabs of social change, it got its head of steam with the advent of the - George W. Bush presidential administration. For unlike all other maladies, the Evil-facation (another new term) of a society starts not from the bottom up, but from the top down.

All considerations taken into account, it is safe to state at this moment that only the lunatic political Right believes the Bush tax cut that went manly to the top 2 percent of the country (while at war) was not financially destructive. And that only the lunatic patriotic believe that the Bush Iraq War - of choice - was necessary.

I do not, however, think that Bush himself was totally responsible for these two disastrous actions taken during his tenure in the Oval Office. Instead, I feel that he was simply a 'dim bulb' who managed to get elected to the top office, but who was controlled in his actions by a determined individual who, despite Constitutionally imposed limits, wanted to build an Imperial Presidency: namely a real-life Darth Vader named - Dick Cheney.

Under his mantle of hidden secondary puppet leadership, we have invaded a country that did not attack us (Iraq), and in the interim left the capture and defeat of those who did to the war lords and drug lords of that nation (Afghanistan). And in the wake of this inarguably insane decision, we are left with a weak and corrupt leadership in that country (Hamid Karzai), whose brother is regarded by the CIA and Interpol to be a major controlling element in that country's burgeoning drug trafficking and production.

Simply look at the day to day destructive changes being forced upon our country that are rapidly tearing away at its basic fabric that we once proudly referred to as - the American way.

A Two Party System at War

While our nation is in the wake of its own destruction, financially and morally, the people chosen leadership in the form of the two dominant political parties are enmeshed in a battle to the death - which for the most part has very little to do with governing the United States of America.

These two great political machines are in a hand to hand battle to establish primacy over the minds of their people - regardless of how destructive the outcome. Each has been virtually taken over by its extremist element bent on setting a legal path to dictate the social thinking of the American populace.

The Extreme Liberal Left (authors of the nightmare of Political Correct) now seek to grant Illegal Aliens full access to all areas of our society - regardless of their ability to pay for it. While, simultaneously, with equal vigor they stride toward removing all legal and moral blockades to those who advocate and practice - 'Abnormal Lifestyles.'

Because of a bill signed into law last year by Gray Davis, Governor of California, regulations are about to be adopted which will prevent all public schools from intervening when they find out that a teacher, or counselor, in any grade level (including kindergarten) has suddenly decided to dress as a transvestite or surgically become a transsexual. According to the pending regulations, the impact on the children is meaningless.* In fact, these regulations even apply to some religious and non-religious private schools as well!

Meanwhile, the Extreme Neo Conservative Right would like to get rid many hard won social and legal accommodations for the working common man and woman - like Minimum Wage and Paid Retirements: in effect, taking the country back to parts of our past that did not work well for many Americans. For example, former Republican staffer and spokesperson John Feehery has the following viewpoint on worker retirement:

"In 1910, the average retirement age in the United States was 74. In 2002, however, the average retirement age was 62. Average life expectancy in 1910 was around 55, while in 2002 it was 77."

His reasoning is as follows: ""Now it is assumed even if you are completely able-bodied and able-minded, you don't need to work and indeed you shouldn't be required to do so if you reach a certain age and certain number of years at one job. But that is crazy. We can't afford it. As people live longer, they should work longer, be productive longer, pay taxes longer, and be full participants in our nation's economy longer."

Think about his statements. Even if they could in a broad sense apply to the office worker, how about the long-haul trucker, and the fireman, and the coal mine worker or, horror upon horror - the airline pilot?

Jailed financier Bernard Madoff has already sent many 80 plus formerly retired Americans back to work - at Wal Mart. Apparently, Mr. Feehery feels we need more of this trend - not less.

Arrival of the Abnormal Train

How many have taken particular notice of the preponderance of horrific crimes taking place of late that involve small children and adults? We have mothers and fathers willingly selling their children out as 'sex slaves.' And despite constant exposure, an ever increasing number of school teachers are having sexual relations with their teenage students.

In Black and Hispanic enclaves of many cities, the resident youth now regard murder, assassination and setting others on fire as a 'normal' part of daily life: a sort of Blood Sport. These youth are the same as other generations as far as flesh and blood are concerned, but are far more deadly because they have demonstrated that they will act out their motivations violently - without any feelings of guilt or remorse.

I Wake Up Screaming

"I Wake Up Screaming" is the title of a 1941 film that many credit with kick-starting the film noir era of the cinema. However, it is the title of the film that draws my attention: for it aptly describes how I react to the daily news I am faced with each awakening day.

Life in the United States at present is like traveling on a fast moving train through a war ravaged landscape that continues to worsen. There seems to be no hope of leadership on the horizon to deliver us from evil masked as - progressive change. Every day seems worse than the day before, and reminiscent of the Stephen King horror novel, "Salem's Lot", - where each day, more and more of the town's people turn into vampires. And what is most frightening is we are beginning to adapt to this - new America.

What I fear most is that, if something doesn't come along soon to deliver us from the new evil, I too may wake up to discover to my horror that I too have begun to change into - something else.
